German at W&J:
The requirements for majoring or minoring in German depend on where you begin your course of study. For example, students who begin with German 105 must take 10 courses to complete a major or 7 courses to complete a minor, while those who begin with German 207 can fulfill a major with just 8 courses or a minor with just 5 courses. Students who are advanced enough to begin in German 309 are not eligible for a minor, but they can complete a major with just 6 courses. It is therefore to a student's advantage to begin at the highest level he or she is capable of! Additionally, students can study abroad and 'skip ahead' with intensive language study abroad. Placement into your initial German course is determined by the first year summer language placement.
